Every year Pantone picks a color of the year and some harmonious color palettes to go with it. This year the color is Ultra Violet. All year you’ll see ultra violet pop up again and again in fashion, design, makeup, home decor, etc.

In the past I haven’t paid much attention or haven’t liked the chosen color much, but I’ve been trying to pay more attention to trends and forecasts lately. I liked last year’s color, Greenery, as it was Stitch Sprouts green!

It seems that more people have picked up on the Pantone colors in the past years, and so when this year’s color was announced, people voiced their opinions, loudly.┬áPeople tend to be either strongly for or strongly against purple. Personally, I love purple. And ultra violet is a beautiful mid-purple. Not too blue, not too red. I approve.

We have two purple yarns, Llao in Crater Lake and Ulysses in Yellowstone. Both would fit this trend pretty well. What do you think?

Llao – Crater Lake

Ulysses – Yellowstone

Will you try to incorporate ultra violet in your designs this year? Or do you ignore the trends?
